WordPress is a powerful software package, and can be customized to do just about anything.  Consequently, there are tons of settings and options that you can adjust. Some of these settings have a clear best setting while others will depend on your particular blogging preferences. Looking at the control panel can be daunting, especially if you have a lot of plugins.

However, these settings make the difference between 10 and 10,000 readers. You might already be making amazing content, and with just a few minutes of your time correcting common settings errors, your message will be able to use spread more rapidly.

Do you know if your blog is easily parsed by Google?

Can your readers easily find your contact information?

Has your blog title been optimized to serve both readers and search engines?

(For example, this blog is called “Doug Devitre Delivers” but my blog title is “Doug Devitre Delivers Real Estate Technology Solutions for REALTORS®, Brokers, REALTOR® Associations, and Educators“)

I made a big mistake on setting up the blog linking system when I first started.  It used to read http://dougdevitredelivers.com/?page_id=855 instead of http://dougdevitredelivers.com/schedule-doug-devitre/topics/brokers-and-agents/ Now that I have it set up correctly it helps identify what the post/page is about plus with the search engines.  Just click on links on my blog and read how the link compares with the title of the post/page.  Big difference.
