Update 3-31-2020

Currently the connection from Zoom video meetings to Facebook Live has been disconnected. If you are trying to post a Zoom video to Facebook Live it may not work. Right now instead of posting to Facebook Live, I am publishing Zoom meetings to my YouTube channel.

I know you have been there.

  • You’ve hunted down the perfect person to deliver a webinar on a specific topic.
  • You’ve created the webinar registration page a month or two out before the webinar date to promote it.
  • You invest hours into promoting the webinar by email, social media, and make phone calls to tell people about it to register and share with others.
  • You do a test run with the presenter who sometimes shows up. Sometimes they don’t.
  • You get ready to start the webinar, AND…

Only five people show up!

How demoralizing is that?

Then you have to…

  • Produce the webinar recording.
  • Export the webinar registration list to a .csv file to import into your email platform.
  • Send out the recording by email.

And only 10 people watch the recording!

Then you say to yourself “Webinars don’t work.” But you have to keep doing webinars because that’s what other people tell you to do. Do MORE webinars. We can record them and play them later. But at what cost? I know in some organizations they have one person that all they do is webinars. The time it takes to produce one and the impact it makes is really discouraging when you think about it when you could create more impact with less time and the fewest hassles with another alternative.

That’s why I am recommending you look at hosting a Facebook Live with Zoom.

Here’s why:

  • There is very little preparation needed to execute one, especially if you have an expert who is fluent in their topic, able to think extemporaneously, handle difficult questions, and is camera ready with the right technology.
  • You can invite others experts on the fly to participate as a panelist in a joint discussion, not just one talking head.
  • When you go live on your Facebook page or group, the video feed shows up right on the page without any extra effort.
  • You can facilitate comments from participants during the session and after the session is over with the presenter and facilitator.
  • The recording from the Facebook Live is automatically saved as a video and can be embedded into a website, blog, or company Intranet.
  • Participants can easily share with other other participants if they are active on Facebook.
  • And who isn’t active on Facebook right now because they are stuck at home with the COVID-19 going around.

I recently asked a few people I know that are smart, tech-savvy, and in a leadership position who can share some inspiring thoughts with their adoption of Zoom and other solutions when it comes to serving others in a #screentoscreen environment. There was little to no preparation time and hundreds of people have watched them already.

Facebook changed their API as of April 2018 and now prevents some users from live streaming to groups. If you are unable to live stream your webinar to Facebook, you can configure the Facebook Live stream as a custom service. Learn more.
