doug-as-turkey-copyAs we enter the holiday season, I am getting into the spirit of giving by releasing a preview of my VIP library.  This will be the first in a series of video blogposts with content from my How-To library.

As I travel the country speaking with REALTORS®, real estate professionals, and fellow instructors about social media I find that many of my colleagues  still suffer from “technophobia”.  This ailment causes the computer user to think that the computer will explode if they press the wrong button. With the development of Web 2.0, this phobia has become much less justified. The web economy now relies on users such as yourself to contribute to the community.  To aid this goal, web developers are making sites that are much more user friendly. For example, if I wanted to write a blog ten years ago, I would have had to spend years learning HTML, or pay big bucks to someone to do it for me. Yet here I am today writing a blogpost in a window that looks just like a Microsoft Word document.

YouTube is another great example of how much easier it has become to participate in social media. Uploading a video to YouTube used to be a difficult process. They only took a limited number of movie file types (and never the kind that my camera used) and if you didn’t have the right type, you needed expensive software to convert the file.  Since being bought by Google, this process has changed dramatically for the better.

Watch this free sample video from my VIP library to see how simple the process has become.

YouTube: Upload a Video

You will need an account before you can upload video. Since YouTube is owned by Google, they now allow you to sign in to YouTube using your google account.  This is great because you only need to remember  one account password for Gmail, YouTube, and the tons of other free Google services.

Do you have a tip on how to make technophobia a thing of the past? Please share it with the rest of the readers in the comment box.
