WeightIt was December 29th, 2011 when I weighed myself in at 200 lbs., a figure that I never thought I would ever see in my life.  How in the world did I gain 25 lbs. in 6 months when I have a gym membership, subscribe to Men’s Health Magazine, a yoga class pass, and a bootcamp membership?

I would think may of us have the know how, tools and resources to do what needs to be done however we lack the motivation to actually do it.

Like World Champion motivational speaker  Craig Valentine says…

“The skill set without the mindset will leave you upset.”

The furthest thing from my mind was how my health was slowly declining because business was great, my personal life was great, and didn’t really matter so much what I ate.  After an ultimatum from from my sweet girlfriend Andrea, “I can’t stand to see you do this to yourself anymore”, I since have been going back to the gym, stopped drinking alcohol and eating healthy again.  The result is 10 lbs. lighter and a happier relationship.

Does it stop here?  Absolutely not.

A mindset is something you must create for yourself every day.  I remember best selling author and motivational speaker Don Hutson saying…

“Motivation is like taking a bath…. cause its a good idea to take one once in a while.”

So true isn’t it?

My friend David Fialk, owner of Choice Realty in Edison, New Jersey said his biggest challenge is the mindset of his agents.

“It is extremely difficult to stay positive because of new financing guidelines, low ball appraisals and unrealistic inspection requests and keep everyone excited about recouping from each time a deal falls through.”

He says if he can’t be enthusiastic about the market then how can you expect his team to be too?  David is  nop-notch broker and a hard worker.  It’s no wonder he’s been successful the last 30 years in real estate.

One of my favorite places to help you get the right mindset in real estate is from my friend Steve Harney’s Keeping Current Matters blog.  Steve is straight shooter and one of the most influential professional speakers I know.  Check out his 2012 real estate trends because he gives you the real statistics, skill sets to master and opportunities to look for on how to serve real estate clients now.

If there is ever a time when you need to improve your mindset on selling I always refer to the Brian Tracy iPhone app.  For only $49 you can take him everywhere with you.  Check out the Featured extra called “Change your thinking and change your life”.  I have listened to it over 50 times and each time I’m in a different place and need the ideas he shares to keep working at maximum capacity.

How do you stay motivated?

When something doesn’t work out how do you adjust?

Who influences you to take action when you need it most?

If you like inspirational quotes check out my friend Darren LaCroix’s 365 Inspirational Quotes.  I may not read every one but when I see his name come across my email I know I better get my butt in gear.

If you are lacking the tech skills or just simply need to be reminded of tactics to implement I created 365 Technology Tips “One tech tip a day to keep your extinction away” and there is no cost or investment for now.  We will be charging for this at some point so don’t wait until its too late.
